Synchronicity and the Chariot

I started this post as a bit of a ramble regarding synchronicity.  Near the end I realized it was also about what I was being told by that synchronicity.

       ~~~~~
I’ve had the following up on the About page since the beginning of this blog, “Synchronicity is the currency of the magical.
I had a series of interesting experiences occur to me this morning and I realized it was as excellent example of how synchronicity and the magical/mystical works.   Here is a brief play by play of how it all went down.
As a matter of course in my morning, I usually stop to check the news.  Now, these days, I do it very sparingly and usually much later in the morning.  Typically, no more than twice a day.  Just before I do I will go through a small ritual where I ground and, basically, brace myself.  I remind myself to stay focused and to let things unground me.    This time I did the above and then I said quietly to myself, “Lead me to what I should see.”
Tonight 11-11
A quick post before more time goes by.
In light of recent events over the past few days, this evening at 11:00 PM EST I will be sitting down in peace.   I will be taking time to focus on peace, care, illumination and healing for any and all  who may need it.   This is a turbulent, historic time and it stands to possibly get worse.  It feels as if the whole country and the world is holding it’s breath.  If nothing else, it is a little positive energy focused onto a weary world.
Please join me for whatever time you have available in whatever way suits you the best.   This morning at 11 AM I simply took a quick break and stood in a stairwell, focused on my breath and asked for the above.  It only took 5 minutes.  Tonight, I may go longer but there is no time limit.  Do what you can.
Peace.
Initial Introductions are Given
Settle yourself in, dear reader, for this is a rambling post.  I had thought to break into two smaller posts and perhaps I should have.  Do let me know if posts like this are too long!
I was able to break free for half of an afternoon.  The weather was rainy and I had nearly opted not to go.  However, after dowsing a quick weather forecast, I was informed that, contrary to the forecasters, I would not have much to worry about in the way of rain and thunderstorms.  So, tossing on my hiking shoes and grabbing my supplies, I headed out.
My work with the boundary was mostly finished.  Any extra details would need to wait until Autumn as the undergrowth had simply become to thick to make any kind of decent survey and to get an exact perimeter on a map.  I knew it well enough in my head and my intent for this trip was to simply get to know some of the local spirits of the place and to reconnect with Nature.
TrailThe day was cool and damp.  Rain fell intermittently but there was no concern about getting drenched.  Coming in at the trail and saying hello at the boundary marker, I was quickly “waved in” after a quick hello to the trees there.   Because of the weather, the park and the woods were deserted.  If it were not for the occasional sound of cars, I could have easily been in remote forest.  Leaning against one of the trees I asked if it knew where I should go.  I immediately saw a “mental movie” of me crossing the stream and walking back towards the first spring that came up and out of a rocky, limestone shelf.  I couldn’t get much clearer than that!
I pulled out my rods and began.  First, I was taken to the abandoned tent I had found earlier.  I wanted to check the site again and the rods agreed.  Because of the excessive growth and lack of clear sight lines, I missed the fallen tree where the tent had been.  Of course, the rods put me back on track and led me directly to the site.  Everything was the same as it was and I re-arranged the tent in it’s bag to be more visible, placing it next to the pot.  The site was still well hidden, even more so with the increase in growth all around it.  Someone would have to know it was there to find it again.  I wondered if the tent would ever just “disappear” one day.
Moving away from there I strolled easily down a game trail towards the creek and crossed it.
Spring Boil
Have you ever watched a pot of water go to a rolling boil?  The water is placid at first.  Then, it will begin to move and small bubbles appear on the sides of the container.  Next, the water will start to shift and move as the energy begins to build.  Eventually, the water begins to bubble and then, finally, boil.
SpringFlowerThis next statement easily falls into the “Nothing New” category but what I have found while working and dowsing with Earth Energy and Earth Spirits is that the same thing occurs every Spring.  Here in the Midwest, the energy first begins to move and bubble around early February.  It’s also no surprise that it’s also about the time the maple trees begin to move their sap.  It’s the first marker.  The energy is slow and sluggish of course but by March it’s starting to charge up.  Early bubbles start to form.  In answer to this, migratory birds begin to move.  For that matter, everything starts to move.  By April, we are into a gentle boil.  Is it any wonder that so many world religions have festivals during this time?  By May, energy-wise, we’re at a full rolling boil!
I once dowsed for the when the highest energy levels occur throughout the year and, again, no surprise the peak energies occur around Beltaine.  By June, things are beginning to settle and we simmer up and through Summer.  However, May is THE keypoint of the energy build.  I’ve not confirmed this but would guess it occurs around the May Full Moon?  (Again, read Beltaine.)
As I write this today, things are definitely boiling in my neck of the woods.  All the Spring plants have made their appearance and the mushrooms have started to show from under leaf and litter.  My point in all this is that it’s one thing to acknowledge what is occurring.  It’s quite another to interact with it!  The energy is so strong right now and keywords for it would be rebirth, renewal, rejuvenation.  In working with friends and clients who are going through stressful times during this cycle of the year I always ask them, “Have you been able to get in touch with Spring?”  The usual response is, “Oh,  a little bit.  It’s nice but I haven’t had time to get outside.”  I usually tell them that “a little bit” is good but “a lot” is crucial!  I also remind them that I didn’t ask if they went outside.  I asked if they were getting in touch with Spring!
troutlilyOne important thing to remember is that going outside is always a good answer but there may be reasons you are unable to do so; work, allergies, other distractions, other responsibilities.   You don’t HAVE to be outside to get the benefit of this energy right now.  It is about how you focus your interaction with it.  Earth energy is pervasive and does not stop at the edges of your home’s window or your office’s wall.   If there was any kind of regenerative, renewing energy it’s the energy of the boundless Spring.
Connecting to it is easier than you might think.  It’s a simple matter of intent.  I was given this little exercise.  What does “Spring Energy” look like to you?  Is it flowers?  Spring rain?  Daisies and tulips pushing through old dead leaves?  Is it the smell of rain?  Birds if bright breeding plummage?  Maybe it’s a combination.  Maybe it’s a place? Whatever it is, come up with a mental image of what Spring means to you.  Do this with your eyes open or closed, whichever is most comfortable to you.
Take a few deep breaths and in your mind’s eye picture yourself with that image, standing within that image.  Once you have that, picture yourself reaching out and touching whatever “feels” right to touch in the image.  A flower petal?  Placing your hand in a cool, fresh stream?  Letting an insect or butterfly land on your hand?  Reach out and touch that energy.  Then, let that energy mingle with your energy.  How does it feel?  It should feel pretty good!  Once you get in contact with it you might feel a pulsing and rolling.  Maybe a bit of an energetic boil?  Dare I say a buzz?  You should feel lighter, healthier.  I know that I often feel an energy burst like I’ve had a cup of strong coffee.  Hold that connection for as long as you would like and then, when you are finished, thank it and simply let go.
(Alternatively, you can of course do the same by looking out a window and focusing on a flower, a budding tree, a bird.  It’s a matter of focusing and the intent of connecting to that Spring energy.)
If you do this throughout the days of Spring you should notice some very beneficial effects to your mood and your energy.  You can do it only once or you can do it throughout the day.  Personally, I do this exercise multiple times throughout the day and evening.   The energy is everywhere right now and it’s source is eternal.  It’s there for you to use so why ignore it?
Questing Path Spread
As Solstice finished I began to look ahead to Lammas.  I wanted to do a reading which would help me understand what I was to work on during this time period, what was to come next?  I felt very strongly about having a “quest” or an assignment for me to pursue which would also be in conjunction with the energies of Lammas.
I looked over the internet and through a few of my tarot books.  None of the spreads I found felt right and I knew I was going to need to design my own spread.  The first thing I do when designing a spread is to get a blank piece of paper and write out aspects of what I want to cover in the reading.  Not all of them make it and many get combined into a single position.  I also like to keep the number of position totals to either 5 or 7 for manageability.
I liked what I read about the Camelot Oracle and it’s pathway cards and I decided to use it as inspiration.  I wanted a card to represent the “type” of path before me as I headed towards Lammas.  A descriptor card that would show more with it’s images and feelings evoked then the actual meaning from the book.  I also wanted to know who or what my allies would be along the way and what challenges or experiences stood before me.  I also wanted to know where the path led.  What was the destination?  Again, like the path card, I wanted it to be more of a descriptor-style of card.
I wanted a reading that felt “different” from the standard past, present, future set-up.  I fiddled with things for around an hour before I came up with the simple spread below.
QuestngPathSpread
I used the pendulum to dowse the sequencing of the card pulls.  I do believe that it will need a bit of tweaking here or there and so I fully expect a Questing Path 2.0 version soon enough.
Here is the description of each position.
1. The Path – This is a descriptor card and you should look at the overall image of the card to help describe your path.  You can also find a keyword for the card and use it to fill in the blank on the phrase “The Path of _____ .” (See below for an example of this.)
2. Mid-Point Navigation – This card points to a midway marker or event between the beginning of the path and the destination. This is not a descriptor card.  This could be a direct challenge or it could be an experience I was to look for along the way.
3. The Destination – Again, another descriptor card.  Look at the image on the card and where the scene is that is taking place.  Given that this spread is for Lammas, I’m looking for not only the feel of the card but a location where I might want to acknowledge Lammas when it arrives.
4 and 5.  Allies Along the Way – This card would point to energies and entities along the way that I could call on for clarity, support and assistance.  They would remind me of my strengths and my experience and might also be individuals, physical or non-physical, that I might encounter.
6 and 7. Challenges – These two cards would show me not only where the sticky points were going to be but also how to identify my greatest teachers on the path from here to there.
Let’s take a look at what they say.
Solstice and Return to the Fey – Part Two
Having pulled my cards and been given the instruction to act the Fool, I simply had to wait for the Solstice to arrive.  I refused to make plans except I knew I needed to go see Grandmother Tulip and wish her a happy summer.  I also knew I wanted to bring her and the Fey some gifts to celebrate Solstice.  I dowsed this for confirmation and asked if I was missing anything.  I was not.  Was I on the right track?  Yes.
With the arrival of Solstice and in a marvelous mood, I let the opportunity arise between a visit to the local farmer’s market, a relaxing breakfast and social time with friends in the Midsummer morning.  Sure enough, without planning, the chance arrived and I headed to the city park where I needed to go with gifts and dowsing rods.  When on the Fool’s path it’s better not to force things!  Arriving at the parking lot, I was surprised to see just how similar of a day it was to the day I had come back to make amends four years ago!
TheField
My wife had said she would go as well so we casually strolled through the sun-kissed field, watched a few butterflies and eventually turned into the tree line.  The narrow path was a bit more overgrown which pleased me because it meant less mundane traffic in the area.  The day was warm but not overbearing and once in the shade of the trees it was very pleasant.  In no time, we were to Grandmother Tulip.
100 Posts at Midsummer
I wasn’t really paying attention but when I posted part three of my Quest story WordPress told me it was post number 99!   So, here it is Midsummer Solstice and I thought it was a perfect time to make sure that post  100 happened today.  I’m not sure how much more perfect it could have ended up, really.
It’s caused me to go back through old posts and to read up on things.  What I also discovered was this blog just had a four year birthday back in May (I guess I just wasn’t paying attention!) and I started dowsing five years ago at about the same time.  Has it been that long ago?  A lot of ground has been covered.  When I started the blog I didn’t necessarily have a focus.  I was hoping to take my previous twenty years of experience and cover a whole spectrum of subjects but the blog has, in a way, found it’s own voice.  When I first started I was hesitant and unsure of opening myself up here.  It was difficult at times and on more than one occasion a direct challenge from Spirit to show me that it would be alright if I shared.
Solstice Sunrise at My Reading Table Today
Fresh out of my Spirit Quest, I can’t help but feel that the best is yet to come and that I really have something to share with others.
There is so much “undiscovered country” out there and I’m hoping to take my lengthy experience and explore as much of it as I can.  Moving forward I’m hoping to share a bit more of my daily and weekly experiences and hopefully, through them, offer some instruction as well.  I’ve already made the decision to be led by the rods to fey areas and map them out as best I can.  I’m also wanting to research and find older trees and power spots within my county.  I’ve plinked around this idea for long enough, I think.  My only concern is how I will keep these areas secretive as I would not want people without the proper respect coming into them and “tromping them up” as the Fey have told me happens quite frequently.  A challenge for the future I will have to navigate, I suppose.
flowersToday, I’m heading out to one of the first Fey areas I spoke about on this blog and I’m reintroducing myself to the ones there.  I’ve got a few readings to do as well and then it’s time with family around cakes, World Cup and a big dinner.  This evening I will sit outside under the Midsummer stars, give thanks and hopefully write up a bit of the adventures from today with the Fey.
But, for now, I want to express my thanks to all of you who have come this far with me.  It has been a blessing to know that you are there, reading and listening to my stories and hopefully gleaning from them that, yes, there is magic out there.  Magic that has always been out there and, most importantly, waiting on you to find it.  The only way I can honor the support you’ve shown me is to make this blog better and even more consistent and fun.  This is one of the things I thought a lot about during my Quest and something I very much want to do.
Thank you very much and have a blessed and joyful Midsummer Solstice!
